Children and Young People

Taking the first step towards finding the right counsellor for your child can feel daunting. With over 20 years’ experience working with children and young people in a variety of settings, I understand the importance of finding the right fit. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and undertake annual safeguarding training to support safe and ethical practice. My role is to help you and your child feel safe, heard and at the centre of the therapeutic work.
As a child-centred psychotherapeutic counsellor, I work flexibly and at your child’s pace, allowing them to lead the work within the therapy room in a way that feels right for them. The initial sessions focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, which takes a different amount of time for every child. Reviews can be arranged as needed to reflect on any changes, explore progress and consider the next steps together. Where possible, I also encourage a planned ending to therapy, giving children and young people the time and space to reflect on their journey and say goodbye in a way that feels meaningful to them.
